For those who use the self-hosted version of WordPress (over at WordPress.org), there is a plethora of plugins to explore and install to customize your copy of this open source blogging/content giant.
As with most popular platforms, there are good, bad and horrible plugins. Weeding through the seemingly endless assortment is daunting.
So to alleviate some of this pain, I’ve compiled some of my favorites.
None of them have links to where you can find them for one simple reason, with the current version of WordPress (you better be using the most recent version) you can install these plugins directly from the adminstration area of the software, which is very handy and avoids the sometimes troublesome issues with using a FTP program.
My list is compiled from the years I’ve used WordPress. Some plugins are free, others aren’t. Some do the same functions, but both are good enough that I wanted to mention them here. I currently run 3 blogs and have built many more for clients. These are what I’ve found to be the best.
