UNDERCITY – New York City Urban Exploration with STEVE DUNCAN, dir. Andrew Wonder

Steve Duncan explores the underground history of NYCThis is an amazing documentary that was filmed in the amazing, often overlooked places in New York City. Urban historian Steve Duncan and film maker Andrew Wonder explored these places and captured some really amazing footage. Don’t try this stuff at home. This film was not sanctioned by the city government and if they got caught, as Duncan says at a point in the film, they would be in a load of trouble.

Snowmaggedon January 26, 2010

This morning it was only supposed to snow a little bit. Um… it snowed 6 inches or so in Doylestown. Last time I checked that wasn’t a little bit. Tonight we’re in for more snow. Some people are saying 2 feet! Nutzo!

Here’s some pics from today.

Brooklyn Tornado – Caught on Tape [NSFW] [VIDEO]

Brooklyn Tornado Video - Twister hits BrooklynYesterday a freak storm in Brooklyn, New York spawned a tornado. Yes, I just said it, a twister in Brooklyn. Now I can tell you one thing this doesn’t happen a lot on the right coast. Most of the time when you think tornadoes your thinking the mid-west like Oklahoma and Texas.

What’s more, two guys in their Brooklyn apartment caught the freak tornado video. These crazy “dudes” (you’ll understand why it’s in quotes once you listen to them talking) actually filmed the twister as it went right by their apartment. Pretty insane. Check out the video below.

September 11, 2001 – We Will Never Forget

September 11, 2001 Never ForgetIt’s hard to believe that it’s been so long since the tragedies of September 11, 2001. For myself the shock and horror of those days has dulled, but the remembrance of those souls who lost their lives that day will never be forgotten.

It doesn’t matter what happened after that fateful day, the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, those events need to be put to the side this September 11th. We need to remember and honor those who lost their lives.

Most of us have memories of that day in 2001. I know I sure do.

Rachel and Tom’s Wedding Video Trailer

I have to post this because it’s just so neat.

Two years after Meredith and I tied the knot, her little sister Rachel and, her now husband, Tom tied the knot on August 1st, 2010 at the Talamore Country Club. It was a great night. Long but fun.

Check out the great wedding video trailer Branded Productions (their videographer) posted on Vimeo:

19th Century Ship found at WTC site

From The Globe and Mail

Very interesting, at the World Trade Center site they found a 19th ship. What’s intriguing to me is that they found it now and not when they were building the WTC the first time. Interesting. Probably different priorities than today. Interesting video over at CNN check it out below. [Read more...]

In Search of the Perfect Address Book

Okay I can just imagine the yells and screams of people yelling out their favorite apps for doing this function, but before you post your ideas in the comments or contact me any number of different ways let me explain what I need exactly.

I’ve been finding that lately that both my wife and myself have had to go into our Wedding Excel invite list to get family phone numbers and addresses. Besides being in Excel, it’s not the most accessible from anywhere by both of us. In addition, I want to be able to have categories so certain contacts go in certain areas. Now the first app to come to mind is Google Contacts. But there is a problem with that. I want both my wife and myself to be able to access the account and I’d really like it on my own server. So judging by the last statement, I want it online and Open Source is almost a must. Also FREE would be optimal.

Now that I’ve given everyone the gist of what I’m looking for? Any ideas?

Let me know in the comments! Thanks in advance.

One Amazing Doomsday Bunker Layout

The world is unpredictable and within a moment what we’ve come to know as fact can change forever.

Shelters during the Cold War were built to ensure against nuclear war. Now we’re building shelters to protect against a force that is out of this world.

Bitrebels just published a great find on Youtube of a CG rendering of a Doomsday bunker. It appears to have all the trappings of home even after home is no longer there. One thing I immediately noticed is the pictures on the wall of natural wonders of Earth.  I guess this is a way to keep people feeling comfortable and at home while underground.
