Hundreds of Thousands Might Lose Internet Access in July

According to an article by Security Magazine, the FBI has been running a "safety net" for users infected with a virus affecting users' DNS configurations. The previous expiration of these "backup" servers was March, but has since been extended to July. (The US Government is spending $87,000 to keep them running, according to the article.)

If the government were to shut down the servers today, more than 570,000 computer users (including 85,000 in the United States) might be presented with a "Server not found" error when opening Internet explorer. An article from +The Associated Press encourages worried computer users to visit www.dcwg.org to see if they are infected with the virus and learn how to fix the problem.

The Bottom Line? Don't download anything you don't trust.
